In the Singles B competition, our newcomer Sabber MD surprised everyone from the start. In a round-robin format, he left his competitors no chance with six wins. Only Daniel Rosenbaum, who finished third, was able to hold his own that day, but he narrowly lost in the fifth set. The strong Maximilian Schmid virtually outclassed his opponents, losing only one set in five matches, but had no chance against the eventual champion. The Singles B rankings: 1. Sabber MD (6-0 wins/18-4 sets), 2. Maximilian Schmid (5-1/15-4), 3. Daniel Rosenbaum (3-3/12-9), 4. Paul Bertram (3-3/11-10), 5. Simon Scholer (3-3/10-9), 6. Jan Räth, and 7. Noreen Sheikh
From the outset, the expected duel between the two favorites Jeremias Kobold and defending champion Sebastian Wucher crystallized in the Singles A class. Both won their matches round after round, and so it was predictable that in the final round of matches, in a true final, the 2025 club champion would be determined between these two. After a dominant performance, challenger Jeremias Kobold was already leading 2-0 in sets and looked like the sure winner when the score was 5-1 in the third set. The fact that the match then turned can only be explained by the old saying: one felt too confident and let up, the other had nothing left to lose and played with more risk. So Sebastian Wucher suddenly played with much more pressure, stayed consistently at the table and gradually pushed his opponent further and further back into defense. In the end, the last three sets went to Sebastian Wucher 11-9, who was able to defend his previous year’s title. A notable, very strong performance on the day was Sebastian Peter, who only had to bow to the two finalists, winning all other matches and finishing a well-deserved third place. The rankings in Singles A: 1. Sebastian Wucher, 2. Jeremias Kobold, 3. Sebastian Peter, 4. Stefan Wucher, 5. Leonhard Wagner, 6. Luca Mammitzsch, 7. Gabriel Kobold, and 8. Sayme Amet
